Objectives

To enable the student to collect, to register and to transmit clinical information (by means of disease history, objective exam and complementary exams). To use the collected information by means of setting out a list of problems and to propose the research and resolution of clinically selected problems (diagnosis strategy). To acquire a core of theoretical knowledge that allows the resolution of the main common medical situations (resolution of clinical problems). To propose an appropriate therapeutic strategy and enable the seeking of information to make decisions.

Learning outcomes and competences

Nephrology - The theoretical learning of the major nephrologicsyndomes, water, sodium, potassium and acid-base disturbances, and some specific nephrologic diseases allows the development of that knowledge, integration and applicability in the clinical practice during the theoretical-practical and practical sessions.

Infecious Diseases - With the presentation of Clinical cases in pratice seminars, the several aspects on infectious diseases pathology will be reviewed.

Gastroenterology - The cognitive learning of the major problems in digestive diseases and hepatobiliarypancreaticsyndromes allows the development of that knowledge, integration and applicability in the clinical practice during the theoretical-practical and practical sessions.

Rheumatology - The theoretical learning of the clinical approach of the patient with musculoskeletal complaints, of the regional conditions and of the main rheumatological diseases reffered in the programmatic contents allows the development of that knowledge, integration and applicability in the clinical practice during the theoretical-practical and practical sessions.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Lectures, theoretical-practical and practical

Theoretical assessment is performed at the end of the last block frequency (at the end of the 9th week) through a test with 64 questions (60 multiple choice development and 4). The theoretical evaluation totals 15 points in each area. For approval, the student must obtain a minimum of 7.5 points in each of the four areas. The practical evaluation of each of the four areas totaling 5 values (up to 1.5 values for attendance and participation and values up to 3.5 in the practical examination / oral). For approval, the student will need minimum of 2 values in practice in each of the four areas.l
