Objectives
We desire that in the final period of learning the students are able to know, in general terms, the history, philosophy and the praxis of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM). To understand the concept of body functions and structure, and activities; Dominate some elementary semiology techniques in PRM; Know some therapeutic resources used in PRM; Value some diagnosis resources in PRM perspective; Identify clinical situations with indications to PRM.

The themes approached during this course are the following: Introduction to the History of Rehabilitation; General Concepts of body function and structure, and activities; White Book of PRM; Patient’s assessment in PRM (anamneses and objective exam); Metrology in PRM (functional scales); Complementary means of diagnosis in PRM; Therapeutic means in PRM; Rehabilitation in orthopaedic trauma pathology. Rehabilitation of neurological pathology; Rehabilitation in rheumatic pathology; Rehabilitation in paediatric pathology; Rehabilitation in vascular pathology; Rehabilitation in oncological pathology.

Teaching methods and learning activities
The discipline teaching is based in: two weeks blocks and comprehends a one hour session, practical sessions (patient’s observation) and a session of theory and practice (discussion of clinical cases).
In the log book are registered the information regarding to pedagogical actions (assiduity, participation, etc.), history and clinical notes and attitudes and acquired capacities.
Continuous and formative assessment. To be considered able the student has to fulfil cumulatively the following conditions: assiduity > or = 90% of the anticipated time, accomplishment of a history with therapeutic proposal, participation, and capacity of acquisition and application of knowledge
