Objectives

Clinical training applying previous knowledge, in a vertical perspective, of the global learning of semiologic, semiotic and therapeutical surgery, in the most frequent laparoscopic surgery situations.

Learning outcomes and competences

The school will be on the concept of block, an optional module. During this period the student will follow the normal activities of their Assistant experience in clinical situations and problems that occur in hospital practice of laparoscopica surgery

Program

The student should be able to apply the clinical method to the laparoscopic surgery. The students should design their own studying plane, decide and participate in the patient’s surgical treatment.
He should as well maintain a good relation with the patients, their families and other health professionals.
Basic Principles. Pneumoperitoneum Physiology. Anesthesia. Trainings and credits. Surgical material. Esophagogastric laparoscopy. Liver. Biliary ducts and pancreas laparoscopy. Colorectal laparoscopy. Spleen and suprarenal laparoscopy. Robotics.

Teaching methods and learning activities

30 hours per week:

• From Monday to Friday, stay in the surgical department from 9 am to 1 pm and 2.30 to 4 pm.
• Seminars: Twice a week.
• Group work: 3 times a week.

Eligibility for exams

Continuous assessment: The teacher on duty will evaluate his students ability to apply in his daily practice the theoretical knowledge, the training in practical maneuvers, the performance in the seminaries, the attitude and relation with the patients and their families and other health professional. Another assessment item should be the student’s interest and participation in all activities, including the attendance and behavior. Theory: Activities report discussion. Classification: 0 to 20, equally distributed by theory and practice.
