Objectives

OBJECTIVES

Knowledge of the cellular, genetic and molecular mechanisms occurring during embryonic development. Study of the expression of genetic and molecular factors during critical moments of embrionic development. Correlation with congenital malfunctions and inducing actions of the environment. Knowledge of etical principles in developmental Biology and clinical aplications in biomedidal research of embryonic development.

COMPETENCES

The students should develop specific competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge and understanding of embryonic development in what concerns morphological, genetic, molecular and experimental issues; 2) Self-learning of the current concepts regarding normal and abnormal development; 3) Ability to research, discuss and present scientific papers; 4) Ability to present fundamented opinions about several aspects of development biology, namely in what concerns the use of stem cells.
