Medical Informatics studies the theoretical aspects of information sciences, specific to the understanding of biomedical data, information, and knowledge, and the application of information technologies in health systems, to increase the safety, effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and availability of health care.
This second cycle of studies covers a variety of scientific and technical subjects: electronic medical records in primary and tertiary care, coding and classification systems for diagnoses and procedures, health ICT standards, signal and image processing, and electronic communications between health care providers, among others.
The program is specially designed either for computer engineers and computer scientists or doctors, nurses, radiology technicians, and other professionals in the Health Care or Computer Science fields.
