PhD in Metabolism - Clinical and Experimental

SINGULAR COURSE UNITS - 2º /3º CYCLE STUDIES 2016/2017

During the first year, the students attend a short core curriculum covering the fundaments of metabolism, followed by a variety of optional units encompassing the main research topics in metabolism and clinical biochemistry at the molecular, cellular and systems level, including lab sessions, student presentations and tutorials, lab rotations and participation in postgraduate courses within the domain of the PhD program. In addition, the students are given the possibility of attending several scientific seminars and participating in journal clubs. Such a broad, multidisciplinary approach is guaranteed by the collaboration of various first line research units inside and outside the country and a large high profile faculty from the Medical, Science, Sport Sciences, Nutritional Sciences, Engineering and Pharmacy Schools of UP and the Research Institutes (I3S and Requimte), as well as invited guests from national and foreign institutions. The students are counseled by a tutor during the four-year duration of their PhD as to their options in terms of curricular education and research project development. The program provides access to a rich national and international research environment.

Eligibility
Master degree holders in Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Nutritional Sciences, Pharmaceutical sciences, Biology, Biochemistry or similar. Exceptionally be admitted candidates with bachelor degrees in these areas.
