The essential aim of the Curricular Unit of Ethics and Deontology is that the student acquires the necessary knowledge in Ethical Principles of the Practice of Health Professions. In the conceptual plan the aims are the acquisition and knowledge of the core concepts in the area of professional ethics, promoting a careful ethical reflection on the principles that support their actions.

The essential aim of the Curricular Unit of Ethics, Spirituality and Palliative Care is that the student acquires the necessary knowledge in ethics and spirituality at the End of Human Life, in particular addressing the basics of Palliative Care and its relation with health professions. In the conceptual plan the aims are the acquisition and knowledge of the core concepts of the most significant theories regarding human thoughts, promoting the integration of these concepts in a more proficient and humanist clinical practice.

Ethics in Scientific Research
BIO_5 - ECTS
The fundamental ethical principles must guide the researcher in the design and implementation of research involving human beings, respecting fundamental ethical principles. These principles must be considered universal, transcending geographical, cultural, economic, legal and political boundaries. It becomes critical to learn the importance of respecting national and international principles and guidelines in order to protect participants from any investigation. It is intended to analyse different aspects and practical cases related to Research Ethics, as well as learn how to develop and evaluate a research project from an ethical point of view, from the design phase of the research, to the phase of publication of the results. Students will be encouraged to reflect on the impact of new technologies on Research Ethics. Through the perception and critical debate of these subjects, students will assimilate the importance of scientific integrity and, at the same time, acquire a global perspective of scientific research that will contribute to improving the quality and impact of the research developed.
Animal and Environmental Ethics

The essential aim of the Curricular Unit of Animal and Environmental Ethics is that the student acquires the necessary knowledge in Environmental Ethics and the importance of Biodiversity, namely in very specific areas. Especially in what concerns the technical and operational dimensions of this area.

The essential aim of the Curricular Unit of Ethics and Health Management is that the student acquires the necessary knowledge in Ethical Theories of Distributive Justice and its Impact on the Establishment of Priorities in Health. In the conceptual plan the aims are the acquisition and knowledge of the core concepts in the area of Health Priorities.
