Objectives

1. To make students aware of the translation product’s added-value.
2. To improve students’ linguistic and communicative skills.
3. To critically apply new technologies to the field of translation.

Program

Methodology and resources
Students will practice several types of translation, preparing themselves for professional work routine and quality consolidated into the critical reflection on the translation product. To that end, the translation of different text types will be carried out:
- Selected passages from a French press magazine.
- Opinion or essay texts.
- Commercial correspondence.
- Instructions for usage / Technical texts.
- Contemporary narrative fiction.
Classes will also focus on the contrastive study of published translations in Portugal and other translations carried out by students.
Furthemore, translations and/or other useful material for the translator will be developed, according to project methodology.
