Objectives

A philosophical understanding of the history of contemporary philosophy in relation to the universes of classic and modern discourse. "Discriminating" interpretation and identification of specific contemporary aspects.

Program

1.Kierkegaard versus Hegel: from the “failure” of dialectics to the “dialectics of failure”.

2. Nietzsche versus Hegel: the power of the Will against the impotence of the Idea.

3. Other critiques of Hegel: central themes and problems and their implications in present-day philosophy:
Positive critique of Schelling
3.1 Voluntarist critique of Schopenhauer (in close connection with Nietzsche)
3.2 Materialist critique of Feuerbach
3.3 Historicist critique of Dilthey
3.4 Positivist critique of Comte

4. Phenomenology and radical experience of meaning. A new phenomenological ontology: Husserl's phenomenology.

5. Merleau-Ponty and the genesis of a new transcendental thought. From the phenomenology of Perception to the ontology of the Visible and Invisible.

6. Other trends of ontological-existencial orientation: their central nuclei and evolution in hermeneutic terms. Paradigmatic exponents.

7. Practical philosophy and ethics as foundational thinking. Lévinas and the ‘thought’ of alterity. Hannah Arendt and the rehabilitation of the praxis and the political.

8. Prospective synthesis of trends in recent philosophy rooted in the themes analyzed during the course. Critical reflection on the issue of modernism/post-modernism. Main representatives.
