Objectives

This subject is designed for students to understand the importance of information in today’s society and become familiar with the infrastructures that boost the construction and development of the information society. Students are also expected to acquire the necessary skills in the retrieval, analysis, evaluation and organization of information stored in different formats and that they understand the importance of information management within organizational contexts, as a decision support system.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical lectures on the subject matters, using audiovisual aids such as PowerPoint presentations and film projection. Class debates will be strongly encouraged. Practical classes will focus on information retrieval, analysis and evaluation techniques.
