Teaching methods and learning activities
Lessons will be both practical and theoretical and will be based on an action-oriented approach considering users and learners of a language primarily as social agents, intercultural speakers and autonomous learners. Students will be expected to be involved in the lessons and in their own learning.
Classes will be taught in Spanish. The didactic material for the course will mainly be taken from a support text produced by the teachers, which will be available on Moodle.

Eligibility for exams
Students are required to attend 75 % of classes and a record is kept of attendance, with exceptions according to FLUP regulations.
Calculation formula of final grade
The type of assessment is distributed evaluation without final exam and the final mark will be calculated based on the following components of assessment: writing and speaking (50%-50%).
WRITING:
- Two written texts to be done in class (portfolio) (3/20). The portfolio consists of these two written texts, corrected by the teacher, and a reflection on the learning process. More information will be available on Moodle at the beginning of the semester.
- one written test (17/20), during class time.
More information about the test and the dates can be found in "Evaluación Espanhol A1" in Moodle.
To be assessed in the speaking part, students need to get a minimum of 9/20.
SPEAKING
- Speaking test to be done in pairs in January (17 or 20/20).
- Oral interaction to be done in pairs in class (optional, 3/20, more information can be found in the document "Evaluación Espanhol A1" on Moodle).
In order to pass this curricular unit, students must obtain the minimum mark of 9/20 in the speaking part.
There is no final exam for this course, but those students who do not obtain the minimum mark to pass the curricular unit will have the opportunity to attend a written test (20 points) and a speaking test (20 points) at the end of the course (the portfolio score can be maintained).
Students who wish to improve their final mark may only repeat the main written test.
More information can be found in the document "Evaluación Espanhol A1" on Moodle.
Examinations or Special Assignments
There is a compulsory reading. This reading will be provided to students by the teachers at the beginning of the semester. In the second oral test, comments and questions about the reading will represent 50%, so students will be expected to remember its content.
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
Students with special status who do not take the tests during the semester will be assessed by a final exam (written and oral) on all the contents of the course in January or in the Special Period.
Classification improvement
Students who wish to improve their final mark may only repeat the written test. Students must also be enrolled for "melhoria" with the "Serviços Académicos".
More information can be found in the document "Evaluación Espanhol A1" on Moodle.
