Eligibility for exams

Assessment is based on the Distributed Assessment without Final Exam and is realized with the completion of a Written Test (50%) and a Practical Work (50%). All assessment components are compulsory.

The practical work is due between the last scheduled lesson of the course in the 1st semester and the first week of the regular exams. Failure to complete the individual written test in the normal exam period will result in the student moving on to the appeal period, with a new written test; failure to submit the practical work on the due date will result in the student failing the course unit.

For the purposes of assessment in the appeal period, all the assessment components proposed in the course unit are considered, with the corresponding weighting in the final classification.

If the student fails the written test during the normal assessment period, he/she may take a new written test during the appeal period, with the classification obtained in the practical work being maintained.

If the student fails the practical work (with a mark of 8 or 9), he/she will will reformulate the work and deliver the reformulation during the appeal period, and the mark obtained in the written test will be maintained.

In this field, the support document "Assessment and functioning rules for Demography and Migration 2024-2025" will be made available on Moodle, containing all the information on the assessment procedures and components.

Calculation formula of final grade

The final grade in the course is calculated from the weighted average of the grades obtained in each of the evaluation components:

- 1 individual written test - 50%

- 1 practical work - 50%

The student who obtains a final classification equal to or higher than 10 values is considered approved in the curricular unit, bearing in mind that:

- the classification obtained in the written test must be equal to or higher than 10 values;

- the classification obtained in the practical work must be equal to or higher than 10 values.

Within this field, will be available at Moodle the supporting document "Assessment and functioning rules for Demography and Migration 2024-2025" which contains all the information on the procedures and evaluation components.

Students who meet conditions to be present at the evaluation in special time of course completion must perform the Written Test (50%) and a Thematic Report (50%). The thematic report to be delivered at the day and time of the test scheduled in special time for course completion.

In the scope of this field, it is mandatory to read the supporting document "Assessment and functioning rules for Demography and Migration 2024-2025", available at Moodle, which contains all information about the functioning of the course unit and the evaluation procedures and components.

Classification improvement

The student may require improvement of classification according to the Evaluation Rules of FLUP. Classification improvement focuses on the written test and on the practical work. It keeps the weighting given to each of these components of evaluation and the conditions for approving the course.

Observations

It is essential consultation and careful reading of the document "Normas de avaliação e de funcionamento de Demografia e Migrações 2022-2023”, made available by the teacher in the course folder on Sigarra. In this document students can find useful information on the operation of the course the evaluation components and associated conditions of realization.
