Objectives

To consolidate / deepen / "refresh" French knowledge for personal or professional purposes, to develop written and oral comprehension and expression strategies, to respond effectively to the political, social, scientific, professional and human challenge that requires multilingual training today and in the future.

Learning outcomes and competences

I can understand familiar words and very basic phrases concerning myself, my family and immediate concrete surroundings when peoples peak slowly and clearly.
I can understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences, for example on notices and posters or in catalogues.
I can interact in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate of speech and help me f ormulate what I'm trying to say. I can ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.
I can use simple phrases and sentences to describe where I live and people I know.
I can write a short, simple postcard, for example sending holiday greetings. I can fill in forms with personal detai ls, for example entering my name, nationality and address on a hotel registration form.

I- Programmatic content (oral/written communication objectives)

Greeting, getting in touch with someone, introducing oneself, apologizing, asking to introduce oneself, introducing someone, expressing one's tastes, discussing one's present and future plans, asking someone to do something, asking politely, talking about past actions, offering/accepting/refusing an invitation, indicating the date, making and setting an appointment, asking and indicating the time, expressing one's positive and negative point of view, inquiring about price, inquiring about quantity, expressing quantity, asking and indicating a direction, locating.

II- Morphosyntactic content (Grammar)

The subject pronouns, the verbs to be and to have + regular verbs in -er in the Present tense, the masculine and feminine nouns and adjectives, the negation does not... not/does not... more/never, the possessive adjectives, the interrogation, the near and simple futures, some indicators of time, the definite and indefinite articles, the marks of the plural of nouns and adjectives, tonic pronouns, irregular verbs in the Present tense of the indicative, the compound past tense, the agreement of the past participle, direct and indirect complementary pronouns, partial articles, the imperative, some prepositions of place, contracted articles, ordinal numeral adjectives.

III- Phonetic/phonological content

Declarative and interrogative intonation, rhythm, elision, liaison, final letters, cedilla, pronunciations of "e".

IV- Lexical Contents (vocabulary)

Days of the week, some polite phrases, the alphabet, some nationalities and countries, numbers from 0 to 100, some occupations, time and date, months of the year, colours, ordinal numbers, leisure activities, expressing tastes and preferences, reading and understanding a menu in a restaurant, ordering a meal.

France, Europe, family, pets & pets, French people's free time, what a gift to give, architecture and nature.
