Objectives

It is supposed that the students may understand the function, in the current social life, of the Archive, Library and Museum services, giving them an adequate adaptation to such contexts, if they are called to work in them


It is supposed, also, to help the students to establish relations between differences and resemblances of these services in what concerns the work cycle that they usually follow and about the way how they interact with the society and the respective “public”

It is still expected that the students easily articulate the theoretical and technical knowledge, acquired in other courses with the normal and practical functions of those cultural spaces

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of this curricular unit, the student must be able to:


-know and describe correctly the work cycle in archive, library and museum services


-articulate theory and practice in what concerns the technical operations and the information diffusion procedures, in accordance to the target public of each kind of service.

During the course, for each subject will be distributed specific bibliography.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The classes conciliate theoretical exposition, slides and videos presentation, group discussion and study visits. The assignment produced by the students should be the result of a reflection on the readings proposed by the teachers, and their oral presentation should allow the debate and critical analysis jointly with the working groups.

Calculation formula of final grade

The final classification of this course consists of the evaluation of personal attendance and active participation in the classroom (10%) and the completion of a group assignment (90%).

The group assignment evaluation will be calculated as follows: 60% for the written presentation and 40% for the oral presentation
