Objectives
The students should acquire competencies to create access points by author/producer of information, by title and by subject, using, in this case, indexing languages (subject headings, thesauri and classifications). They should also understand and apply authority control techniques for the establishment of access points and use automated systems for this purpose.
Learning outcomes and competences
At the end of this curricular unit, the students must:
- know how to use controlled language to the establishment of access points by author/producer of information, using adequate standards, as well as to establish access points by author/producer and by title;
- know how to use controlled indexing languages to represent and to retrieve information by subject;
- know how to use automated systems in authority control work.
