Objectives

It is intended that students further consolidate grammar knowledge and essential vocabulary acquired in previous levels.

 In the end of the semester they will be able to translate simple texts by Greek authors.

Learning outcomes and competences

- Ability to recognize and use morphological, syntactic and semantic structures increasingly more complex.

 

- Ability to understand and translate simple texts from ancient authors.

1. Review and furtherance of knowledge of morphology and syntax: 1.1. Noun inflexion: 1.1.1. Third declension nouns; liquid and nasal stems; semi-vowel stems and diphthong. 1.1.2. Contracted adjectives. 1.2. Verbal inflexion: 1.2.1. Present perfect and past perfect active and medio-passive. 1.2.2. Present and aorist subjunctive and optative. 1.2.3. Aorists ending in -an, -en,-wn and -un. 1.2.4. Thematic verbs (stop and liquid consonants); inceptive verbs. 1.3. Syntax of completive and circumstantial subordinate clauses. 2. Translation of selected texts by Luciano and from the New Testament.
