Objectives

The aim of this course is to study the authors of the imperial period in order to consolidate and complement the linguistic knowledge acquired in previous levels.  The aim is also to encourage the quality of translation.

Learning outcomes and competences

By the end of the semester, students must be able to: 1. Complete an accurate and creative translation of annotated literary texts; 2. Situate the authors studied in their socio-cultural context.

1. Translation of selected texts by Seneca, Petronius and Tacitus. 2. Historical morphology: 2.1. The formation of some declensions, the degrees of adjectives and the perfect tenses. 3. Syntax: 3.1. The study of syntactic constructions used by the authors.
