Objectives

Epistemological and methodological reflection in the social sciences. Initiation to the scientific discourse, the conceptual language and the prospects of sociological analysis. Knowledge of the logic of scientific research in Sociology.

Learning outcomes and competences

Shaping sociology as a science and profession,through  mastering the problematizations of the disciplinary constitutive field of sociology.  Understand the contributions of sociology and other social sciences in their complementarity and in the wider framework of interdisciplinarity. Identify and reflect on the methods and research techniques deployed in Sociology. - Mobilize to the integration of the instruments of capacity in order to enable the lifelong learning with a high degree of autonomy. Increasing critical capacities and reflective, with professional attitudes based on ethical principles.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical and practical sessions: classroom activities working with a strand expository and deepening of critical programmatic matters. Monitoring of individual work, focusing on the exploration of texts, documentaries videographic, critical reviews and analysis of text production.

Calculation formula of final grade

The evaluation will be made by the completion of a final examination, concerning the matter overall worked throughout the semester (study materials and classes). The final exam has a weight of 100% of the final grade. Failure of this condition implies to repeat the exam in the time for appeal.
