Objectives
In Sound and Image Laboratories we will validate and strengthen the knowledge acquired in the preceeding units. Concepts and techniques in the fields of sound and moving image will be put at the service of audiovisual and multimedia production.
Being a practical discipline, we will explore the aesthetic and creative potential of technological tools; here seen as an expressive medium of audiovisual discourse. The discipline will hence unfold in two documentary production and videography possibilities: short form and interactive.
Learning outcomes and competences
The unit will provide and further the knowledge of those technical tools, concepts and methodologies of audiovisual production that will be necessary for the students' future professional practice.

Program
This unit's syllabus will strongly reference Documentary filmmaking and its historic, narrative and conceptual dimensions, as well as its production techniques.
Sound and moving image will both be addressed: we will work on the concepts and techniques for capturing sound, recording and editing, using sound effects, mixing and mastering for audiovisual and multimedia productions. We will also work on videography techniques and aesthetics, including image capture, editing and post-production.
Throughout the unit, we will also address documentary writing, directing and production techniques, leading to the creation of a final project.
