Objectives
The main purpose is that students learn to master the specific techniques of expression used in the press. By promoting practical exercises, the curricular unit aims to raise levels of student proficiency in the different journalistic genres. Students will also learn theoretical aspects concerning the funcion of the press in the context of democratic societies.
Learning outcomes and competences
The aims of the curricular unit will be attained if, at the end of the semester, the students will be able to develop the following competencies: 1) To acknowledge the theoretical framework related to the specificity of the press. 2) To acknowledge and master the techniques of expression employed in newspapers and magazines. 3) Use the mastery of techniques to develop practical exercises in the different journalistic genres.

Eligibility for exams
Students are required to attend 75% of classes. Exceptions according to general and FLUP regulations.
Calculation formula of final grade
Evaluation for this course includes practical assignments (50%) and and a final written exam (50%).
Examinations or Special Assignments
Failure to attend 75% of classes, in the cases established by law, may require the oral discussion of the assessment items presented, to be indicated by the lecturer by the end of the respective semester, and a new written test on the subject contents.
