Objectives

Successful students will: • understand French language as a system ruled by universal principles and particular parameters; • improve their formal knowledge of lexical, syntactic and textual aspects of the French language; • use critical thinking about French language aspects, analyze them and describe them using appropriate metalanguage; • learn how to use the standard reference material for the study of French linguistics: grammars, dictionaries, electronic corpora, and on-line reference material.

Learning outcomes and competences

Successful students will understand French language as a coherent system ruled by universal principles and particular parameters. They will improve their formal and conscious knowledge of lexical, syntactic and textual aspects of the French language and use critical thinking about French language aspects, analyze them and describe them using appropriate scientific metalanguage in a reflexive way.
