Teaching Language Portuguese Aims, Skills and Learning Outcomes 1. Acquire the basic notions of the key areas of Phonology, Morphology, Morphosyntax and Syntax; 2. Develop techniques of grammatical description (observation, seeking regularities, generalising from linguistic data) of typologically different languages.
At the end of the curricular unit, students should be familiar with basic notions in Linguistics that allow them to analyse not only non-Indo-European languages but also African varieties of Portuguese; to understand common principles and parameters of variation, as a way to understand the changes that are occcurring in post-colonial varieties of Portuguese.

Consonants, vowels and semi-vowels (glides) 4.2. Brief articulatory characterisation of these sounds 4.3. Syllabic structures 4.4. Prosodic properties.
