Objectives

Students should be initiated to main topics of contemporary philosophy of action and also be made familiar with the classical textual references. Students should explore relations of philosophy of action with moral philosophy and philosophy of mind

Program

I Central problems in the philosophy of action:
The classics: Aristotle, Elizabeth Anscombe and Donald Davidson on nature of action, nature of intention, relation of reasons and causes.

II Specific issues regarding action, explanation of action and rationality / irrationality in action in the works of A. Mele, H. McCann, G. Ainslie, M. Bratman, D. Hausman, J. Knobe
