Knowledge of the relationship between sociology (as a science and profession) and society
Knowledge of the procedures for the institutionalization of sociology in Portugal
Knowledge of professional practices in sociology
Students should acquire the following skills:
Ability to apply sociological knowledge in the performance of their professional activity
Ability to think about professional practices in sociology
Ability to think about the ethical and civic implications of the sociologist’s work
Ability to search, select and analyze information
Ability for oral and written communication of knowledge and autonomous learning

Teaching methods and learning activities
Theoretical and practical sessions – presentation of the main issues of the program and discussion of the most relevant issues.
Tutorial Orientation Sessions (TO) – discussion of texts and realization of lectures.
