Objectives
Objectives
1) Objectives
Successful students will be able to:
- acquire and develop methodologies for the construction/production of sociological knowledge;
- develop their knowledge of the main stages to conduct a survey by questionnaire and interview.
- analyse critically and reflect on the theoretical and methodological issues raised by the construction and applicability of the proposed techniques for data collection and analysis;
- acquire theoretical and methodological tools to use in research;
- become involved in their learning process, participating willingly in class and producing a research report;
2) Competences to be acquired
Successful students will be able to:
- demonstrate their ability to use research methods and techniques;
- develop their learning skills and autonomy;
- develop a critical and reflective culture of citizenship and a professional attitude based on ethical principles.

2.1. Methodology of survey by questionnaire.
2.2. Stages in designing a questionnaire: general theoretical and methodological problems.
2.3. Questionnaire design.
2.4. Carrying out the questionnaire.
2.5. Processing the questionnaire.
2.6. Analysis and presentation of results.
3. Sociological research by interview
3.1. Research by interview: theoretical and methodological issues.
3.2. The scientific status of the interview: objectivity and validity of the results.
3.3. Ethical questions raised by research by interview.
3.4. The interview as a social process.
3.5. The practice of researching by interview: interviewing individuals and groups.
3.6. From discourse to text: methodology for analysing interviews.
3.7. Final reflections on research by questionnaire and interview: social construction of the validity of results.

Eligibility for exams
Evaluation components:
- Final Exam
- Research report: students must apply the two main techniques studied in the discipline
- Attendance of classes and participation in the Tutorial sessions
The requirement of presence in at least 75% of the classes is not a condition for obtaining frequency, but discretion to consider the final assessment.
Calculation formula of final grade
The final grade results from the following elements, with the respective weights:
- Final exam - 60%
- Research Report - 30%
- Participation in the Tutorial sessions - 7%
- Attendance of classes - 3%
So that the student is deemed approved the final classification must be equal to or higher than 10.
