Objectives
The main goal for this class is to provide students with tools which will allow them to critically reflect upon today’s Spain, returning to a recent past in order to draw a political, social, economical and artistic point of view.
Students will be talked through the profound changes Spain has experienced over the last century, as well as the processes which have transformed the nation in a modern and developed country, despite the meaningful core diversity and the consequent internal and external conflicts.

Eligibility for exams
Students must attend 75% of classes, except for cases provided for by law.
The maximum obtainable grade in the written exam is 14 points; to get a positive mark students must have at least 7 points in the written exam, this grade will complemented with the remaining 6 points from the mandatory paperwork, which will be assigned at the beginning of the semester and must be handed in during the last class week in December. Students who fail to deliver this paperwork will not be allowed to go the written exam.
Both the written exam and the paperwork may be presented in Spanish or Portuguese, according to the students’ choice.
Calculation formula of final grade
Class work - 30%
Exame - 70%
Student must obtain at least 7 point in the written exam. The points from the mandatory assignment will be added to the exam, and that shall be the final grade.
Examinations or Special Assignments
During the semester all students must do a presentation in class, those students who are working students should deliver that presentation in a written format.
