Objectives

Throughout the course, the main objective is that the student achieves a general vision of today’s Spain, through the several cultural manifestations and everyday aspects of Spanish people’s life, avoiding the use of topics and generalizations.

It is also expected that students get interested in the different aspects that conform the Spanish society´s cultural identity.

In order to achieve these objectives, lectures will be supported with different kind of real documents and audiovisual materials (newspapers, magazines, books, documentaries, short films, feature films…), that promote students´ interest and their participation in the class.

1. The “franquismo”.
2. Democratic transition.
3. Government system and monarchy.
4. The Spain of autonomies.
II: Society:
1. Spanish society’s problems.
2. Main mass medias: radio, television and press.
3. Spanish cinema

Eligibility for exams

It is mandatory the frequency of at least 75% of classes, except the situation predicted by law.

Calculation formula of final grade

The maximum grade that can be obtained in the written exam is 14 points; to get a positive grade students must have at least 7, this grade will complemented with the remaining 6 points from the compulsory paperwork, which will be indicated at the beginning of the semester and should be delivered on the last class week in December. Students who fail to deliver this paperwork cannot go to the written exam.

Examinations or Special Assignments

During the semester all students must do a presentation in class, those students that are working students should deliver that presentation in a written format.
