French for the Human and Social Sciences I
Instance: 2006/2007 - 1S
Cycles of Study/Courses
Objectives
This subject is designed for non-specialized students who would like to
brush up their knowledge of French specially for academic purposes. The overriding aim lies in the form in which students are supervised, attempting to provide them with tutorial supervision as much as possible, through the use of computers and semi-autonomous study. Thus, this shall enable to satisfy students’ individual needs more successfully in terms of acquiring the principle of autonomy in research, comprehension and expression.
Program
The programme for this subject (the same one as for
French for the Human and Social Sciences II in the 2nd semester) will depend for the most part on the nature of the group of students enrolled. Classes shall engage in the study of simple documents in different formats (paper, audio, video, computer) and of different text types (expository, argumentative or demonstrative), as well as documents illustrating communication situations of everyday life. Classes will take place in rooms equipped with computers, making it easier to adapt the same programme to the individual needs of each student.
