Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto and integrated researcher at the Linguistics Centre of the University of Porto. She holds a PhD in Translation and Terminology (specialisation in Terminology) from NOVA University Lisbon (2022) and a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures – Portuguese Studies (scientific track) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (2001).

As a researcher in the field of Language Sciences, her career has been marked by methodological and epistemological renewal in Portuguese lexicography. Her work brings together terminology, lexicography (contemporary and historical), computational linguistics, digital humanities, and open science policies, with a focus on the development, analysis, and dissemination of lexical resources with a scientific and technological basis.

She began her career as a lexicographer at Porto Editora, where she contributed to major reference projects such as the Vocabulário Ortográfico da Língua Portuguesa and the Grande Dicionário da Língua Portuguesa.

She is President of the Institute of Lexicology and Lexicography of the Portuguese Language (ILLLP) of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences (ACL) and coordinator of its academic lexicographic projects, such as the Dicionário da Língua Portuguesa (DLP) and the Vocabulário Ortográfico da Língua Portuguesa (VOLP). She also coordinates the projects ACL+ – Language, Culture and Digital Inclusion (La Caixa), dedicated to valuing linguistic and cultural heritage and promoting digital inclusion and literacy, and PORTULAN CLARIN (Portugal 2030), via ACL, a consortium with the Faculty of Sciences and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, focused on developing digital tools and services based on artificial intelligence for Portuguese. She is also part of the scientific editorial team of the Thesaurus de Ciências da Terra, published by the ACL.

At the international level, she has taken on leading scientific roles in collaborative networks. She was a research fellow in the European project ELEXIS – European Lexicographic Infrastructure (2019–2022) and a researcher in MORDigital – Digitisation of António de Morais Silva’s Diccionario da Lingua Portugueza (2022–2024). In the COST Action CA22126 – European Network on Lexical Innovation (ENEOLI), she is co-leader of WG1, dedicated to the design of a multilingual glossary of the metaterminology of lexical innovation, and collaborates in the development of the ENEOLI Wikibase.

She is an expert in technical standardisation, having been responsible for the revision of ISO 1951, dedicated to the representation of lexicographic entries, and is a member of CT 221 – Terminology, Language and Languages and CT 025 – Quantities and Units at the Portuguese Institute for Quality.

She participates in the DARIAH Working Groups Lexical Resources and DHwiki, contributing to the modelling of dictionary resources (TEI Lex-0) and the documentation of lexemes.

A corresponding member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences since 2015, she was elected a full member in 2022.
