Margarita Dimitrova is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Portuguese and Romance Studies at the University of Porto and a researcher at the Centre for Linguistics at the University of Porto. She has received her bachelor degree in Portuguese Philology at the University of Sofia (Bulgaria) and her Masters and PhD in Linguistics at the University of Lisbon, where she defended her PhD dissertation “On the Syntax of Yes-No questions in Bulgarian and Portuguese” in 2020. During her PhD, she was a visiting PhD researcher at Université Paris Diderot (France).
Her main research area is syntax and the syntax-discourse interface. She has also developed research in comparative syntax, building on data from typologically different languages, namely Romance and Slavic and Balkan languages. She is author and co-author of articles in international journals and book chapters.
