Ricardo Morais holds a PhD in Communication Sciences and a Master in Journalism from the University of Beira Interior (UBI). He is Assistant Professor at Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. He was Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Letters of UBI, where he teaches radio and television journalism and Assistant Professor at University of Beira Interior. He is researcher of the project "MediaTrust.Lab – Local Media Lab for Civic Trust and Literacy". He was researcher of the project "Remedia.Lab - Regional Media Lab and Incubator" and was research fellow of the projects "Public and Private in Mobile Communications" and "Citizens' Agenda: journalism and civic participation in the Portuguese media", both developed in the Laboratory of Online Communication. He is a Integrated Researcher of CITCEM – Center for Transdisciplinary Research Culture, Space and Memory, where he is part of the group, Information, Communication and Digital Culture. He is collaborator on LabCom - Communication and Arts, where he is part of the group "Communication and Media", and Foreign Collaborating Member of the Multimundos research group - Interdisciplinary Studies of Contemporary Tensions, at the Federal University of Mato Grosso. He has focused his research and publications in the fields of journalism, new media, communications science, participation and political communication. He is co-author of the book "Anões aos ombros de gigantes: Desafios contemporâneos na comunicação de ciência.", published in 2016 in the Media and Journalism collection of the publishing house Livros Horizonte. He is the author and co-author of different articles and chapters in the different areas of communication. Between 2022 and 2024, he was Coordinator of the Communication and Politics Working Group of the Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences - SOPCOM.
