I’m a researcher working on medieval economic history at the CITCEM (Transdisciplinary Research Centre «Culture, Space and Memory», Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto since 2018. I investigate the merchants, commerce, institutions, conflict management strategies, and urban history of late medieval Portugal and Western Europe. I earned his PhD in December 2012 at the University of Porto, with the thesis Portugal and the Medieval Atlantic. Commercial Diplomacy, Merchants and Trade, 1143-1488. I conducted academic work and research at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands (Marie Skɫodowska-Curie fellowship), NOVA University of Lisbon in Portugal (FCT post-doctoral fellowship), University of Cambridge in the UK (FCT post-doctoral fellowship), and the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, United States (FLAD fellowship). Over the years, I have taught at the NOVA-FCSH/Aberta University in Lisbon, Polytechnic University of Porto, University of Coimbra, and University of Porto. I am currently the coordinator of the research group Trading Values at CITCEM, and member of the research unit's direction.
