Apresentação Pessoal

My research deals with the long-term processes about conceptual transformations in the history of science, logic, and the philosophy of nature. These long-term processes involve the study of textual transferences, the enlargement of semantic fields, and the cultural or linguistic aspects that allow the concepts surpass borders in order to put themselves in the mind of any scholar. I have focused my research in the Iberian region and in the vernacular languages in order to track the dissemination of the philosophical tradition and the use of scientific representations (diagrams, graphics, cosmographers, charts) from Middle Ages to Early Modernity. I am the Responsible Researcher of the Project: From Data to Wisdom. Philosophizing Data Visions in the Middle Ages and Early Modernity (XIII-XVIIth century)-FDTW, which is developed at the Universidade do Porto. This 3-years project was submitted to the Fundação de Ciencia e Tecnologia (FCT), 2017 call of projects (http://ifilosofia.up.pt/projects/data-wisdom). FDTW has an interdisciplinary focus that aims to integrate digital tools with the Medieval and the Early Modern diagrammatic thinking, from the point of view of the contemporary visualization of knowledge. At 2015, I earned a postdoctoral fellowship from FCT to develop the project «The Reconstruction of the ‘Tree of Knowledge’: Historical Contingencies and Textual Transformations» at the Universidade do Porto (Gabinete de Filosofia Medieval). The aim of the project has been to detect the logic structures, the classifying strategies, the argumentative order, and the dialectic plans that the arborescent representations preserve. The results of this project are reflected in: «El silencio de Aristóteles y los praedicamenta en la obra luliana», Anuario filosófico, 49/1, 2016, pp. 21-50; «From Metaphors to Categories: The Contemplative and Semantic Cycle of the Divine Names». Also, on communications and conferences: «Grosseteste’s Spherical Condition of Heavens: The Astronomical Experience According to Geometria Practica» (Oxford, 2018), «The Arbor philosophiae amoris in the Early Modernity» (Poitiers-2018), «Arbor coelestialis: la descripción luliana de las esferas» (Porto Alegre-2017); «Ars experimentalis: Experience in Demonstrative and Productive Disciplines» (Durham-2017); «Arbor inversa: a re-significação da ordem do conhecimento no século XIII» (Oporto-2017); «La reforma luliana del árbol porfiriano y el Tractatus de Pedro Hispano» (Barcelona-2016). From 2012 until now, I coordinate an international group of specialists on Ramon Llull’s thought from Europe, Brazil and United States, the Lullian Section/LS (https://seccionlulliana.wordpress.com) of the SIEPM-Société Internationale pour l'Étude de la Philosophie Médiévale. The contributions of the Lullian Section at Freising SIEPM-Conference (2012) were published by Brepols: Knowledge, Contemplation and Lullism, IPM 67/SL 5, Brepols, 2015.
