I'm a forestry engineer with a master's degree in rural development. I've taught in higher education institutions and been awarded master's and doctoral scholarships by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
I have collaborated as a consultant on projects developed by private and public entities such as the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), the Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) and the Institute for Nature and Forest Conservation (ICNF). In collaboration, I organised ethnobotany courses at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) and the Serralves Foundation. I was a consultant for the exhibition "The Emperor's Flowers - From bulb to carpet" at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum. I developed the "Memory Trees" project for the Guimarães Memory House (CDMG). I co-author the podcast "Botanical Fictions", on Casa Comum - University of Porto.
I collaborated with Monash University (Melbourne) on the project "The enigma of arrival" on the global circulation of Acacia farnesiana. I coordinated the ethnobotanical project "In search of the lost acacia", carried out in Egypt under the auspices of the Martins Sarmento Society. I've been a collaborator at the Centre for Geography and Spatial Planning Studies at the University of Porto since 2012, where I'm preparing a thesis on the introduction and spread of acacias in Portugal and Europe.
I have been a director of non-governmental environmental associations and a member of cultural and scientific organisations. My work has been published in scientific journals and other national and international publications.
I currently work as a senior technician at the Associação de Municípios Parque das Serras do Porto (Association of Municipalities Parque das Serras do Porto), as part of the Life Project "Adapting Serras do Porto to Climate Change".
