Abel Laureano is Bachelor
of Laws (LL.B.), Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon (1987). Is a postgraduate
in European Studies, European Institute, Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon
(1991). Has a Diploma in European Studies, European Institute, Faculty of Law,
University of Lisbon (1993). Is Master in Laws (LL.M.), Faculty of Law,
University of Coimbra (1996). Has a Diploma of Advanced Studies, University of
Santiago de Compostela, Spain (2008). Prior to his entry into university life, he
was Sub-Director of Advertising (1973-1974) and Director of Personnel
(1974-1980) in a leading Portuguese company. He worked also as an independent translator
(1978-1990) and as an independent lawyer (1989-1997). In 1997 he joined the
Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, having been in charge over the
years of university teaching practice, of the regency of several curricular
units. He is a member of the Institute of Sociology of the Faculty of Arts of
the University of Porto (since 1997) and was elected member of the Executive
Committee of the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Arts of the
University of Porto (2004-2006 and 2006-2008). Among other legal writings, and not
counting works in press, he published nineteen books, eighteen articles in
international journals, as well as twenty-five educational publications for use
by students of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. His bibliography
focuses primarily in the areas of European Union Law and Public International
Law.
