Born in Rio de Janeiro, attended secondary education in "Liceu Rainha Santa Isabel", Porto (1974/1978), graduated in Geography (FLUP / 1983), PhD in Human Geography (FLUP / 2001) and National Defense Auditor (since 2009).
Was senior technician in the "Terra Quente Transmontana" Municipalities Association (1983/85), where participated in the "Terra Quente Transmontana" Intermunicipal Master Plan; in the Preventive Measures of the Intermunicipal Master Plan; Coordination of the Educational Equipment of Terra Quente Transmontana Regional Project (Ministry of Education under the "Program on Educational Building", O.C.D.E .); in the "Municenso" Project, for the "Terra Quente Transmontana" and in the definition of the "Terra Quente Transmontana"Geographic Base, for the Census 1991.
In 1985 started working in the Geography Department (Faculty of Arts, Porto University-FLUP), where she has been Assistant Professor since 2001. At FLUP, she was a representative of the Assistants at the Pedagogical Council (1996/1998), Erasmus Program Local Coordinator (2003/2011), and director of the Geography Department (2019-2021). She is also researcher at the Center for the Study of Geography and Spatial Planning, member of the European Network for Housing Research (since 2002) and member of the Urban Commission: Urban Challenges in a Complex World of the International Geographical Union (IGU) (since 2002).
She develops research, teaching and student supervision in the areas of Housing Market, Housing Policy, Housing and Quality of Life, Population Geography, Social Vulnerability, areas where her publications are also included, some available at
