Objectives
Within the range of undergraduate degrees based upon languages derived from Latin, this subject aims to provide students with a thorough grounding of the fundamental structures of Latin (to be dealt with in depth during the semesters that follow), which will serve as tools for a better understanding of the structures of the languages that derive from it. Students taking Germanic languages are also expected to extend their vocabulary, since Latin has greatly influenced the English and German lexicon.
