Objectives
At the end of this course, students should know or be able to:
— Take a critical stance in the discussion of theoretical issues related to Philosophy, Politics and Economics or Political Science;
— Take part in academic debates related to the central themes of the Master's programme;
— Construct a personal preparatory research path based on contact with ongoing academic debates in the scientific field of the Master's programme.
Learning outcomes and competences
Throughout the course, students come into contact with various themes, theoretical debates and points of view, which enrich the training obtained in the study cycle. The choice of scientific meetings has contributed to an attitude of active search for knowledge, an indispensable skill for further studies, particularly in research and writing the dissertation. The final report encourages the integration of results and a critical and evaluative attitude towards the activities chosen and attended.

The student must choose the scientific events to attend from among those that the Course Director, at the proposal of the Scientific Committee, indicates as suitable for inclusion in the individual training plan of Master's students.
The UC is structured and operates in accordance with Order No. GR.07/11/2019 of 18 November 2019 of the Rector of the University of Porto "Academic Passport of the U. Porto".

Teaching methods and learning activities
The student must take part in 25 hours of scientific meetings of different kinds, previously validated by the Master's Director, and at the end submit the respective original certificates, with all the data relating to them and in each case attesting to the number of hours attended, together with a brief report (500 to 1000 words) in which the student identifies the knowledge acquired.
