Teaching language

French

Objectives

By the end of the semester, students should have reached the B2 level of French (defined CEFR levels).

Learning outcomes and competences

By the end of the semester, students should have become more autonomous and have developed their linguistic, socio-linguistic and pragmatic skills in order to be able to:

- understand the content of audio-visual documents of various types and length and covering a range of current and social issues;
- understand an informative or argumentative speech such as a conference or a debate, identifying the main ideas, arguments and positions;

- understand different types of texts of varying length and relatively high complexity, with content related to current issues;

- express themselves with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes interaction with native speakers quite possible and without strain for any part;

- produce a clear and organised continuous speech on a given topic;

- defend their opinion by making arguments when giving an oral presentation or participating in a debate;

- express their opinion on a social and/or current issue in a clear and coherent written text. Argumentative productions can take several forms (argumentative essay, cover letter, etc.).
