The students acquire enough knowledge in the subjects approached during the seminar and specialize in a determined scientific or technical area; they work in teams or network so as to improve the quality of the translation product.
At the end of the seminar students should be able to:
- analyze macro and micro structure (collocations, terminology, phraseology, information structure, register and style) of scientific and technical text with different specialization levels (academic, industrial, promotional);
- select the strategy and solutions most adequate to the purpose of the translated material, to the specific needs and to its recipients;
- justify translation decisions to potential clients, with an adequate use of metalinguistic terms;
- evaluate the viability of documental, terminological and phraseological resources (Internet, electronic corpora, dictionaries and data bases, bibliographic resources);
- use translation tools in an efficient way (search engines and automatic translation, revision tools, useful both to translation and terminology);
- evaluate (check, review and revise) their own work and that of others, and systematically apply quality safety plan;
- be fully familiar with all the different phases of a professional translation project;
- be able to work in a translation team and to network with other language service professionals;
- be aware of the need to implement a quality assurance plan adapted to each translation project;
- organise, budget and manage translation projects involving single or multiple translators and/or other service providers.

4. Computer tools that help in technical and scientific translation.
5. Take part in team and network projects so as to improve the quality of the translation product.
According to the type of contact hours, specific translation projects are presented by the teacher and by the students (individually and in groups) to share information according to the following steps:
1) pre-translation and preparation of support material, translation-oriented functional analysis;
2) CAT tools used;
3) translation proposal ;
4) translation criticism.
The evaluation is distributed without final examination.
