Objectives
- to initiate a rhetorical approach to cyberculture and cyberspace
- to examine computer-mediated communication (CMC)
- to consider the impact of the new media on social communication and on new publics
- to learn new communication paradigms in new technological contexts
- to develop an ability to integrate new technologies and content production
- to stimulate enquiry, research, innovation and writing for new formats
- acquisition of skills to use online editing tools
- to prepare a final project integrating theoretical and technical knowledge
Learning outcomes and competences
It is intended that the end of the course, the student is able to:
- have a historical and critical perspective about cyberculture and dominate the most important bibliografic references
- have a critical attitude towards new media and technological innovation, adapting the knowledge acquired to reflect on the media

6. the language of the new media: narratives, codes, non-verbal language
7. journalistic production and online editing in various formats

Teaching methods and learning activities
- theory-practical classes using case studies for classroom or group analysis and discussion
- preparation of interim opinion projects based on the seminars held and literature reviews requested
- preparation and presentation of project (in groups) at the end of the semester

Eligibility for exams
Attending 75% of classes, unless established otherwise by law.
Calculation formula of final grade
Distributed evaluation without final exam. The calculation of the final evalution is done considering the following parameters and ponderations:
1. attendance and participation: 15%
2. delivery of theory exercises during the semester: 35%
3. end of semester project: 50%
(in the case of the research project in group, the following parameters will be taken in consideration: a) Interpretation; b) Topic understanding; c) Use of bibliography; d) Evaluation and compilation of the used material; e) Critical analisys; f) Conclusion)
(note: the various assessment parameters are cumulative and all are compulsory, and in each one the evaluation should be ≥ 10)
