Objectives

This course aims to a general survey of French literature of XX-XXI centuries by

1. the analysis of some key authors, namely those who receive the Nobel Prize after the 50s;
2. the study of socio-cultural contexts and their relations with changes on literary discourses.
3. literay connections  between France and the "hors Héxagone" francophone, or with other literatures.

Learning outcomes and competences

- Knowledge about major changes in contemporary French literature;

- Ability to interpretative analysis of literary texts, realizing their expressive potential and training;

- Development of skills in reading and writing in the context of the French language and also the Portuguese language, with some attempts in literary translation.

1.Centuries transition under the War sign:  "avant gardes"at the beginning of the 20th century and their legacies : Guillaume Apollinaire as precursor.
2. The evolution of French literature trough Nobel ( 1957-2014) : Albert Camus, Claude Simon, J.M. Le Clézio and Patrick Modiano
3.. Decentralised imaginaries or francophones  replica : Tahar Ben Jelloun and Kamel Daoud.
