Objectives
The UC aims to deepen the practical work with instruments of study and research, preparing the materials investigated for their oral and written presentation (assignments, articles, essays, book reviews, monographs, etc.).
Learning outcomes and competences
At the end of the CU, students must:
1) Understand the nature, methods and styles of philosophical discourse, from different eras and schools;
2) Analyze, interpret and discuss philosophical texts of different genres;
3) Know how to build texts using argumentation, explication, critical reasoning (and using concepts, quotations, sources);
4) Know how to work with basic study tools in philosophy (specialized encyclopedias, journals, electronic resources, books, histories of philosophy);
5) Prepare assignments for submission and publication

Teaching methods and learning activities
Some few classes are devoted for theoretical introduction of the syllabus issues; lessons are mainly of practical work devoted to contact library materials and electronic resources, or writing and presentation of text and especially for reading, analysis and commentary of philosophical texts of different styles, eras and schools.
Assessment includes two practical assignments (1) recollection and systematization of bibliographic information on a specific subject (30%), 2) text analysis (30%) and a final test which also includes a practical component (40%).
