1. acquisition of basic knowledge in linguistics;
2. acquisition of founded and accurate capability of reflection on languages, in particular the Portuguese;
3. mastery of basic aspects about the sounds of language and the sounds of speech;
4. mastery of fundamental aspects about the formation of words, their meaning and their relations;
5. mastery of the basics of syntax and semantics of sentences;
6. acquisition and operationalization of fundamental notions on Pragmatics and Sociolinguistics.
By the end of the semestre, the students should be able to:
1. reveal basic knowledge in Linguistics;
2. reveal founded and accurate capability of reflection on languages, in particular the Portuguese;
3. recognize fundamental aspects about the functioning of linguistic sounds and speech sounds;
4. master and exercise on specific examples fundamental aspects about the formation of words, their meaning and their relations;
5. master and apply to the analysis of sentences basic aspects of syntax and semantics of sentences;
6. recognize and apply to the analysis of utterances and texts essential notions of Pragmatics and Sociolinguistics.
