Objectives

- To develop documentary and bibliographic research skills in Social and Human Sciences, particularly in historiographic research.
- To provide tools, techniques, and methods for information research.
- To promote the practical application of those methods and research techniques in actual research practice.
- To be familiar with some data source in a context of historical research

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical-practical classes: theoretical-practical lectures, which may use interactive approaches and the support of specialists on Information Science.
Tutorials: Class reflection and discussion of individual research projects. Oral presentation of projects and intermediate stages of work.
PL: Working in libraries and archives: practical exercises on bibliographic and documentary research focusing on several typologies of documentary institutions.

Calculation formula of final grade

The final mark is calculated by the weighted average of the mark obtained in the paper, student participation in OT and TP sessions and the outcome of the exercises carried out in PL sessions, according to the following formula:

TOTAL= 90% P + 5% CP + 5% EX

P= Written paper. Simulation of a research path applied to a specific research project.
CP = Class participation.
EX= Exercises in PL sessions
