Objectives

This seminar will focus on the tendencies and/or trends of 19th century Portuguese ethical-political thought, in order to provide a systematic vision of the philosophy of each selected author bearing in mind the historical and cultural context of each. By establishing a link with the schools of thought of philosophy, an essential objective of this seminar is also to emphasize the unity and diversity of ethical-political reflection in Portugal during the 19th century.

Historical and philosophical synthesis and criticism of the Portuguese ethical-political thought from the 19th century:

The teaching method adopted in this Seminar gives students the central role by which, based on research and critical thinking, and with the active contribution of all students in debates, they will be able to develop their research path. This option does not exclude the role and responsibility of the lecturer and it aims for student to develop the necessary skills.
