Cycles of Study/Courses
Teaching language

Objectives
a) Develop the acquisition of knowledge and know-how:
- Promote the reading and decoding of texts, visual and sound recordings based on real communication processes.
- Propose an action-based methodological approach, i.e., students are primarily seen as “social actors having to perform tasks in a given circumstance and environment” (CECR)
- Allow different strategies to develop naturally in the learning process, in coordination with the linguistic, socio-cultural, intercultural and discursive components.
b) Encourage personal initiative, self-assessment and autonomy:
- Provide various types of documents in order to add to the student’s balanced skills of critical reception, interaction, production and mediation, while drawing on creativity and improvisation.
- Diversify assessment methods in order to make learners aware of their learning process and promote the building of effective strategies.
c) Improve knowledge and the acquisition of communicative and linguistic contents (vocabulary, grammar, pronounciation, and spelling) to achieve an intermediate level.
- Consolidate prior learning and conceptualise new elements.
- Analyse, in greater depth, the discovery and acquisition of interactive strategies suitable for communication.
- Prioritise tasks that encourage learners to observe and explain the functioning of structures using various tools (grammar books, dictionaries…) and/or compare with their mother-tongue
Program
1. Functional aspects: meet and talk to the group members, evaluate their comprehension and expression skills, define their learning expectations and objectives, how they express subtle, positive and negative opinions, speak of the tastes and preferences, involve the speaker in the speech, make comments for and against, react favourably or unfavourably to an idea, a fact, an event, present a discussion and pick up/interrupt a conversation, insist on or oppose an argument.
2. Linguistic aspects: consolidation of prior learning (pronouns, revise verb tenses, the negative form, questions…), past tenses, indefinite quantities, compound relative pronouns, the expressing time, alternating between indicative/subjunctive moods. Increase vocabulary (synonyms, antonyms, idiomatic expressions, language registers…).
