By the end of the semester students should:
• be familiar with French language;
• have developed basic communicative strategies for simple written and oral interactions
• have overcome inhibition in oral communication ;
• be able to write and understand descriptive written and oral texts;
. have acquired geographical knowledge of French-speaking areas.

• The articles and the contraction
• Possessive articles
• Regular and irregular conjugation of the (indicative) present
• The plural of nouns and qualifying adjectives
• Negation (« ne…pas »)
• Personal pronouns (subjects and stressed)
• The interrogative form

3. Communicative skills
• Greetings, leave-taking and other politeness expressions.
• Introducing oneself to someone else
• Describing oneself and others
• Making and answering a phone call
• Stating one’s tastes
• Speaking of one’s daily routine, personal plans, holidays

• Placing oneself in time
• Asking for and giving information on familiar subjects
