Personal Presentation

Professor and researcher at the Center of Education of the Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL), also affiliated with the Graduate Program in Sociology (PPGS/ICS-UFAL). She holds a PhD in Social Science (Social Anthropology) from the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), a Master’s degree in Sociology from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp), and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC). Her research focuses on Urban Sociology, Anthropology of Childhood, Anthropology of Education, and Urban Anthropology.

She coordinates LAPSE – the Laboratory for Research in Social Sciences and Education (CEDU/UFAL) and has led projects funded by agencies such as CNPq, FAPEAL, and UFAL, addressing topics including Indigenous childhood (Wassu-Cocal), the school trajectories of young mothers and fathers, and the development of the Sociology of Childhood in Brazil. Her academic work combines ethnography, anthropological theory, and contemporary debates on care, children’s cultures, the city, generations, and intersectionalities.

She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Sociology of the Universidade do Porto, developing the research project “City(ies), Childhood(s) and Nature(s) from an Anthropological Perspective.” Between October and November 2025, she was a visiting researcher at the Centre for Research in Child Studies (CIEC), Institute of Education of the Universidade do Minho. The study examines children’s play practices in different territorial contexts—urban and Indigenous—investigating the relationships between childhood, nature, the city, and digital technologies, including the impacts of screen time and social media on children’s experiences. Through an ethnographic and interdisciplinary approach, the research aims to contribute to international academic debate and to the development of public policies ensuring children’s right to play, social interaction, and the city.
