Françoise Bacquelaine is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto where she teaches general and specialised translation, French linguistics and the use of corpora in scientific research. She is a researcher at the Centro de Linguística da Universidade do Porto, where she has been developing her research based on corpora in the field of Human and Machine Translation, Terminology, Phraseology and Semantics of universal quantifiers. She holds a degree in Germanic Philology from the Université de Liège (Belgium), a Master's in Terminology and Translation and a PhD in Language Sciences - Translation, both from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto, where she defended her thesis: "Traduction humaine et traduction automatique du quantificateur universel portugais 'cada' en français et en anglais. Étude de phraséologie comparée'. She is also the author of several articles, co-editor of some books and translator or linguistic reviewer of books and scientific articles. Since 2016, she is responsible for the French version of the digital encyclopedia Ulyssei@s (Institute for Comparative Literature Margarida Losa).
